Web 2.0 vs. Traditional Web
Web 2.0 คือ หน้าเวปเพจที่มาอยู่ด้วยกันจากทั่วโลก ออกมาตั้งแต่ปี 2004 โดยบิล โอ ไวด์ดี้ เป็น www รุ่นที่ 2 ซึ่งเป็นอินเตอร์เนตที่สร้างขึ้นมาเพื่อแลกเปลี่ยนไม่ใช่การเน้นการขายของเฉพาะแต่ละบริษัท (เดิมเป็นการเน้นการขายของ เช่น E-Commerce ที่ใส่ไปหน้าชื่อบริษัท) เป็นการเปลี่ยนอำนาจการต่อรองไปอยู่ที่ผู้บริโภคมากขึ้น ให้ผู้ใช้มีส่วนร่วมมากขึ้น
เมื่อเปรียบเทียบกับของเดิมแล้ว มีการเปลี่ยนแปลงคือ เน้นไปที่ผู้บริโภคหรือผู้ใช้อินเตอร์เนตมากขึ้น เช่น การที่ผู้ใช้สามารถเข้าไปใช้และแบ่งปันข้อมูลที่ wikipedia สามารถเปลี่ยนแปลงโดยผู้ใช้ตอนไหนก็ได้ หรือการขายข่าวผ่านทางอินเตอร์เนต เช่น I-Tune เน้นที่การยาย Content/กระแสผ่านสื่อที่บริโภคทุกทาง (ไม่ได้เน้นที่การขาย Product) นอกจากนี้ web 2.0 ยังสามารถนำมาใช้ประโยชน์ในองค์กรได้อีกด้วย เช่น การทำการตลาด (Facebook, Social Media) นอกจากนี้ยังเป็นการติดต่อถึงลูกค้าหรือระหว่างผู้ใช้เองภายในองค์กร เป็นการเปลี่ยนแปลงการส่งสารระหว่างกัน เช่น การใช้ Social Network/ การสร้าง Blog เป็นต้น

- Ability to tap into user intelligence. เช่น Amazon ที่สามารถเข้าไปดูความเห็นจากผู้ที่ใช้งานจริง การ Review ที่เกิดจากแรงบันดาลใจจริง เป็นเสมือนการสร้างอำนาจของผู้บริโภคในการกำหนดทิศทางของสินค้าได้
- Data available in new or never-intended ways. ข้อมูลถูกใช้ไปในแนวทาง/วิธีการใหม่ๆ ต่างๆนานาได้ สามารถสร้างช่องทางในการเข้าถึงหรือการสร้างกระแสใหม่ในกลุ่มลูกค้าเดิมหรือกลุ่มลูกค้าใหม่ได้
- Rich interactive, user-friendly interface. เช่น Interface ที่ง่ายมากยิ่งขึ้น ทำให้สามารถติดต่อระหว่างกันได้มากขึ้น ประกอบกับการเป็นยุคที่ความรู้มีพร้อมมากยิ่งขึ้น
- Minimal programming knowledge required. เป็นช่องทางในการรวบรวมความรู้ความเห็นเพื่อสร้างสินค้าใหม่หรือเตรียมออกสินค้าใหม่

เช่น Digg เป็น Social Bookmark website เป็นเสมือน Community/Network kที่แบ่งปันเรื่องที่แต่ละคนสนใจขึ้นมา ให้มาแบ่งปันและโหวตระหว่างกัน เป็นการช่วยกันหาข้อมูล/ข่าวสารจากผู้ใช้หลายๆคนทั่วโลก
แต่ก่อนคนที่ผลิตสื่อเป็นพวกบริษัททีวี วิทยุ สำนักพิมพ์ (Traditional Media) แต่เดี๋ยวนี้คนที่ผลิตสื่อจะเป็นคนทั่วๆไปมากขึ้น มีการ share สิ่งที่พบเห็นระหว่างกันมากขึ้น เป็น Social Media มากขึ้น และข้อมูลที่ได้ค่อนข้าง Real-time ซึ่งเป็นการเพิ่มช่องทางการสื่อสารมากยิ่งขึ้น
